Yamabuki are the gold bullion of koi ponds. The reflective golden coloration represents wealth and prosperity in Japanese culture. The Yamabuki’s understated elegance comes from the metallic yellow that contrasts its multi-hued pond mates, making it highly visible and instantly recognizable in any body of water.

For koi enthusiasts looking to add a little variation on the traditional elegance of the Yamabuki to their pond, there are newer, interesting varieties available—like the scaleless Doitsu, the sparkly Gin Rin and longfin butterfly combinations.

Requirements

A Koi pond needs to provide clean, well oxygenated water in order to produce a healthy environment for fish to live and grow. The basic requirements are: To be large enough to accommodate the potential size that Koi can grow to ( 24 inches / 60cm plus). A pond of around 8 feet x 6 feet and 4 feet deep (2.5m x 2m x 1.2m) containing approx' 1200 gallons (5500L) would be a sensible minimum for keeping Koi in the UK or other temperate climates.

Diet

Koi fish eat just about anything, from small bugs and insects, to plants and algae at the bottom of the fish pond, to store-bought koi fish food. Koi will even eat people food. They love cereal, lettuce, shrimp, rice, peas, watermelon... pretty much anything we like, koi fish consider food.

Shipping & Returns

Our Koi can now be delivered via Courier. Fish are delivered in an Oxygenated box, costing £25 per box.
For fish up to 6 inches we can fit 6 in a box, but the very large Koi would need a box of their own.
